Coming soon

36+ weeks and counting and still in south Florida with no job. Had a semi offer but that is still a no go. Budgetary reasons. So whenever they actually have money and a budget in place I guess i’d have a job. Who knows when
That would be though. I was supposed to start over a month ago.

Now I just get weekly updates about the situation, if I’m still interested and if I have anything else on my plate or lined up. I imagine this could go on forever and really it’s just a job and not wow i can’t wait. As far as the west coast trip to Bev Hills, well, it went well but haven’t heard anything. Plus with a kid on the way that’s a stress to up and move at this point.

Hopefully something great comes up that I actually like with great career potential. Who knows.

Super Bowl 2010… Who will win ? I say the Colts

I’m not really rooting for anybody in tomorrow’s Super Bowl. I think the Colts are going to win, but it should be a good contest. The Saints are a feel good story and Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, Jonathan Vilma, and Sean Payton, etc all seem to be down to earth people I guess. A good heart warming story for a beaten down community who once wore bags on their heads because of the ‘Aints.’ New Orleans needs this they claim. The Indianapolis Colts don’t come from a great well known city and people from Baltimore still fumes over the fact they left Baltimore in the middle of the night in a moving van. That’s kind of funny how they forget the same thing happened to Cleveland who moved to Baltimore then changed their names from the Browns to the Ravens. But it’s different somebody told me. Yeah different because now you are the the thief team and don’t’ want to think that way. People like to be the victim I guess. Hell the Ravens won a Super Bowl about a decade ago so why are they complaining? Oh yeah it’s Baltimore and DC and Maryland. I’m not a big fan of that area or most of the people from that area. Nice to visit for a moment but kind of a dump(urban, suburban, and rural) if you have to stay for awhile.

Anyway my final prediction is

Indianapolis Colts 27
New Orleans Saints 17

Leaders, problems, and solutions

I watched to a little excerpt from David Hitz about leadership and solving problems. It seems like great advice. What he said was simple :

1 – Who owns the problem?
2 – Do you trust this person to solve this problem?
3 – If the first two don’t work, find somebody you trust to find and solve the problem.

Seems like great advice to me that a lot of managers fail to realize or follow. Over the years I’ve worked with a lot of smart people and a lot of average people. And it more times than not it seems there were a lot of managers who didn’t know how to delegate, didn’t know how to trust, had ego issues, had micro-management issues, or they simply not very good managers or people in general. Some people seem to think they are more important than they really are or maybe it’s a facade they have to push out to the public. Who knows. Sometimes leadership is about trusting your team. If you can’t trust them it means you need to find new people or you need to find a new job and/or career. Look at sports. Some coaches know how to find the right assistants and players. Others are soo smart and dedicated yet they are horrible head coaches. Find people you trust and let them do their jobs. Otherwise the leader is the one who should be out of a job.
